The village of East Chisenbury can rightfully boast one of the best eateries in the southwest, if not the country... Tucked into Salisbury Plain, the Red Lion is home to Guy and Brittany Manning - two passionate, practised chefs whom after working in numerous Michelin-starred kitchens around the world now apply their knowledge of classic and modern cooking techniques to an uncluttered, unpretentious menu using the best local British produce.
Within their first year they had won The Good Food Guide’s ‘Pub Chef of the Year’ and a Michelin “Bib gourmand” for their reasonably priced, outstanding cooking. Jay Rayner of The Observer has praised them and Bruce Poole of London favourite Chez Bruce is an enthusiastic regular. More recently, the Red Lion has been awarded a ranking in The Morning Advertiser’s Top 50 UK Gastropub list and the The Good Food Guide has included the pub in its Recipe book honouring the 60 Best Restaurants in the country.
The Red Lion has roared into the consciousness of the local foodies. It’s fantastic atmospheric balance of true British pub with destination restaurant continues to strengthen this gem’s loyal following. Waste no time in visiting before its popularity makes getting a table impossible.
