The Lady Ottoline, Bloomsbury, London.

Great little place. Went here for lunch and the food was really nice. Service was friendly and attentive. Nicest pub toilets I have ever seen.

The Princess of Shoreditch, Shoreditch, London.

Have been here loads of times and it never disappoints. Great food, nice staff and lovely atmosphere.

The Queensbury Pub and Dining Room, Willesden Green, London.

The Queensbury is one of my very favourite haunts. The food is always of the highest standard and with an ever changing menu they always manage to keep it fresh.

The Gun, Docklands, London.

The whole experience of lunch at the Gun in the River Room was ideal and the service from all the staff was 1st class

The Thatch, Thame, Oxfordshire.

Delicious roast pork Sunday lunch with amazing Yorkshire pudding! A friendly place with a great bar and attentive service.

The Botanist, Chelsea, London.

The Botanist has a very lively bar. We have been visiting for years when in town. Great food and fab cocktails. Try the Confit de Canard - it will not disappoint.

The Stagg Inn, Titley, Kington, Herefordshire.

Unbelievable to find this quality of cuisine in a pub in Herefordshire. Great wine list too! Would highly recommend!

The Punch Bowl Inn, Crosthwaite, Cumbria.

We will visit The Punch Bowl again. Truly delicious food, great beer and wonderful service. Recommended!

The Star Inn, Harome, North Yorkshire.

The Star’s reputation is well deserved and the Black Pudding with Foie Gras is worth travelling a long way to taste, believe me!

The Hand & Flowers, Marlow, Buckinghamshire.

It’s a busy pub and unsurprisingly! The variety and quality of the food at The Hand & Flowers makes it so much more than a pub that serves food.

Gastro pubs are a great way of enjoying delicious home cooked food with quality ales and selected wines.

Britishgastropubs.co.uk provides a venue finding service of the best gastro pubs in London and throughout the UK serving quality pub food and the best pub sunday roast lunches.

Overview

The James Figg is a proper pub, offering well-kept beer, honest pub food and a warm welcome. Thame is a lovely English market town and The James Figg is at the heart of it. The English pub, with its tradition of drink and chat and simple, satisfying food, is a great institution, often under threat. The menu is simple and traditional, the sort of pub food you fancy after a hard morning's work, or shopping. The food is straight forward, but the quality is right. All there chicken and eggs are free-range. There ham comes from outdoor-reared pigs and they roast it themselves. They work together with Thame neighbours, Newitt's Butchers, by serving their pies and sausage rolls. Food is served between noon and 2.30pm and 6.00 and 9.30pm. They also serve coffee and breakfast in the mornings. They have Thame's greenest beer garden, set behind The Stables they have an idyllic space perfect for lazing away sunny afternoons with a chilled bottle of sauvignon blanc and a bite to eat.
