The Star Inn
Overview
A tiny village, not on the way to anywhere in particular, is not the most obvious location for one of Britain's first and foremost gastropubs, yet people somehow find their way to this picturesque thatched pub – and keep going back again and again! And one of those who return is the Michelin Inspector, who first gave Chef/Patron Andrew Pern his 'star' in 2002. Menus often change between lunch and dinner to take advantage of the best seasonal and local ingredients, and this passion for quality and attention to detail, is not limited to the kitchen – the entire ambience of The Star, overseen by Jacquie Pern, is strives towards a relaxed and comfortable perfection. A new dining room and Chef's Table (possibly the first one located in a pub) have just been added, as has a Kitchen Garden from which herbs and vegetables for the kitchen are sourced, so, if Harome is not already saved in your Sat Nav settings, there's even more reason to seek it out.
